Title: Maintenance III - Electrician
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor - Electrical/audio visual/alarms
Position Purpose: To keep the District's facilities maintainied and operational so that they present no problems or interruptions to the education program.
Qualifications:
* High school graduate or equivalent.
* Successful completion of a course of study in electronics from a high school, trade, or technical school.
* Successful completion of a Journeyman Electrical Program and a mnimum of six years experience in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting. Any equivalent experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job will be taken under consideration.
* Demonstrated knowledge of national, state and local electrical codes.
* Experience and training in electronic systems, circuit boards, chips, computer hardware and software (including applications and programming), etc. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as determined to be appropriate and acceptable.
* Demonstrated knowledge of three-phase electrical systems.
* Knowledge of standard practices, tools, and terminology in electronics, computer hardware and software, and other assigned skill areas.
* Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operations of telecommunications systems.
* Knowledge of installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
* Ability to write specifications and schematics, and to work from blueprints, sketches, written and verbal instruction, and to understand the technical language within the assigned skill areas.
* Ability to design or modify components to meet job requirements in the assigned skill areas.
* Must have a valid Kansas driver's license and possess a good driving record.
* Ability to work in varied weather and temperature conditions.
* Ability to work from heights and in confined areas.
* Knowledge of colors
* Ability to perform work independently according to prescribed standards and procedures with a minimum of supervision.
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
* Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and possess basic computer skills.
* Dependability and the ability to get along with others.
* Knowedge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, voltages, hazardous materials, and proper ways necessary to perform the assigned tasks.
Physical/Emotional Requirements:
* The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements duriing any part of the working day.
* The incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.

Performance Responsibilities:
* Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor - Electrical/Audio Visual/Alarms to receive each day's assignments.
* Respond to work requests in a timely and courteous manner.
* Perform maintenance and repair tasks in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures.
* Assist with a variety of work assignments including such things as electrical systems, switchboards, panels, transformers, generators, controllers, building automation systems, switches, circuits, motors, pumps, compressors, boilers, clocks, refrigeration, cafeteria equipment, heating, etc.
* Assemble, install, troubleshoot, test, repair, maintain, and upgrade various types of electrical systems and components (lighting, electrical panels, switches, circuits, resistors, scoreboards, timers, street signs, etc.), electro-mechanical systems, and equipment with supervision.
* Inspect electrical systems and components to determine condition and identify needed repairs.
* Test and repair circuits and sensors using ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, test lamps, oscilloscopes, etc., following wiring and system specifications.
* Replace faulty wires and parts and ensure that the new ones are in proper working order.
* Assist with placing conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated walls, poles, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes;fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
* Assist with installation of new electrical service including wiring, fuses, equipment, appliances, apparatus, fixtures, and other electrical components.
* Assist with locating and correcting power failures and motor trouble on electrically operated machinery and apparatus.
* Provide technical assistance to other personnel and work on electronic equipment for other departments as necessary.
* Assist with deveopment and carry out preventative maintenance program.
* Follow the District's system for the receipt and issuance of parts and supplies as well as maintaining recordkeeping and inventories.
* Attend appropriate training sessions, meetings, and classes as part of the professional development.
* Accomplish assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
* Operate and care for equipment used in daily work assignments.
* Maintain accurate and complete time sheets.
* Assist other maintenance areas with work requests as assigned.
* Occasionally operate various bending and pulling equipment in course of day-to-day work assignments.
* Occasionally operate bucket trucks, scissor lifts, etc., in course of day-to-day work assignments.
* Assist with snow removal as necessary includinig operating snow plows, tractors, etc.
* Responds to emergency situations during and after hours as requested for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
* Demonstrate professional image through appearance, language, and work ethic.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of Classified Personnel.
Significant Associations: The performance responsibilities are not limited to those outlined in this description and may include any other responsibilities as assigned by the administrator/supervisor.
