ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISION: FOOD AND NUTRITION SERVICES
JOB TITLE: FOOD SERVER LEVEL IV-A
REPORTS TO: FOOD AND NUTRITION SERVICE MANAGER/BUILDING PRINCIPAL
SUPERVISES: Leads 4-8 EMPLOYEES
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
9 Month Calendar
Hourly and work year to be determined by the 501 Board of Education
Works 7-8 hours per day in a Middle or High School Kitchen
Must attend and successfully complete Food Safety Basics class within the first six months of employment, and once every 5 years
Assistant Managers are strongly encouraged to join SNA and SHAW-Wa, professional organizations for school food service staff, and attend elective continuing education classes
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED is required
Must possess proficient computer skills and be able to use typical office software
More advanced math skills, including multiplication and division
Ability to read, instruct, and write the English language
Thorough knowledge of food safety basics
Advanced skill in food preparation and cooking
Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally
Ability to stand up to 7.5 hours
Complete understanding of portion sizes
Exceptional interpersonal and communicative skills
Ability to effectively train others
Ability to work well with others
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists Kitchen Manager in all management operations, including cooking, prepping, cleaning, record keeping, training, creating work schedules, employee performance evaluations, and filling in for vacant positions. May assist in the effective overall operations of the Food and Nutrition Services Program at different kitchen locations as needed.
- Assist staff in the preparation of food items and food carts
- Assist with training employees
- Extensive knowledge in HACCP procedures
- Operate Fast-Lane Software, complete satellite reports, make deposits
- Thorough understanding of meal benefit applications and ability to maintain state records
- Ensure all temperatures are taken and documented properly
- Assist with questions, documentation, or reviews conducted by state, federal, or private agency
- May plan staff meeting and attend the District’s Manager meetings as assigned
- Build and maintain positive relationships with school personnel, administration, and outside agencies
- All other duties as assigned
