REPORTS TO: Building Principal

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold a Kansas Certified Teaching License or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Successful experience as a teacher in a diverse education setting.
  • Successful experience in communicating with parents and students.
  • Demonstrated effective outcomes with student discipline.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate and provide training to teachers on effective discipline outcomes
  • Be the lead for implementing PBIS
  • Handle classroom and school site student management
  • Assist teaching staff in establishing excellent classroom management practices
  • Provide interventions for student discipline issues
  • Support and implement a data-driven PBIS system
  • Develop, implement, and monitor student behavior contracts
  • Assist in the development of policies for student discipline and behavior
  • Monitor student attendance and truancy issues, including home visits
  • Provide input at GEI meetings and long-term suspension hearings
  • Ensure the overall safety and cleanliness of campus
  • Assist with the academic progress of all students
  • Provide instructional coaching in the areas of expertise (licensure)
  • Serve as a liaison to community organizations, police, and probation officers
  • Provide support to the IEP process
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal

 

PHYSICAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  The employee is required to interact with staff and to meet demands from several people.  The employee is responsible for the work output of others.  On occasion, the employee may be required to work extended hours.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.

 

EVALUATION:

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions for the Board’s policy on evaluation of administrators.
