Position Purpose:  To assist and relieve the General Director of Curriculum/Instruction of paperwork and impediments, so that he/she may devote maximum attention to the central problems of education and educational administration; also, to contribute to effective school/public relations by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries and visitors.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate
  • Excellent written language skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to use all office equipment
  • Knowledge of school district operations, policies, and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to respect confidences
  • Ability to present a professional image and to successfully represent the administrator in communications with the school board, general public, and district employees
  • Ability to make effective and efficient independent judgments
  • Ability to create documents
  • Extensive organizational skills and initiative
  • Ability to coordinate other worker’s activities
  • Ability to handle pressure/stress and ambiguity

 

Physical/Emotional Requirements:  The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day.

 

Light work:  Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Performs general secretarial duties for the General Director of Curriculum/Instruction and others as necessary.
  • Compiles and completes State and district reports, notices, expense and leave forms, requisitions and work orders.
  • Maintains a filing system for the General Director.
  • Places and receives telephone calls; orders and maintains supplies; schedules appointments and interviews; coordinates meetings; makes travel arrangements and coordinates the work of the office personnel.
  • Maintains accurate records regarding categorical reimbursement for certified and classified staff.
  • Composes and processes routine outgoing correspondence.
  • Maintains and enters department payroll roster information biweekly and performs other related office duties as directed.
  • Coordinates leave requests/travel arrangements
  • Facilitates transportation requests
  • Processes transfer requests

 

Terms of Employment:

12 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.

 

Evaluation:

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of classified employees.
