Reports to: Principal
Purpose: Under the direction of the mental health team, provides support to students who need mental health support services.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of intervention strategies, assessments, and intervention resources
- BA in a mental health related field
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel, and parents
- ESOL endorsement preferred
Physical and Emotional Requirements:
Speaking, hearing, visual, reading, writing, word processing, mobility, consistency of temperament, ability to problem solve and work in stress providing environments.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver targeted social emotional/behavioral supports in a small group, individual, and/or classroom setting
- Deliver social skills lessons using district approved curriculum
- Serve as behavioral mentor to students
- Deliver and use assessment results to diagnose areas of need and make service decisions that address students' needs Use research-based strategies that meet students' emotional, learning, and social needs
- Coordinate planning and communicate students' performance with teachers, mental health team members, instructional coach, and principal
- Use district-approved resources, which includes both primary and supplemental resources
- Monitor and maintain accurate records for reporting student progress to teachers and parents
- Participate in GEI/504/IEP meetings as requested.
- Participate in building Mental Health Team meetings.
- Participate in district professional development.
Terms of Employment: 9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
