Secretary I- Preschool (SPED)
Title: Secretary I- Special Services (SPED)
Reports To: Coordinator of Preschool
Position Purpose: To assist and relieve the Coordinator of Preschool of paperwork and impediments, so that he/she may devote maximum attention to the central problems of education and educational administration; also, to contribute to effective school/public relations by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries and visitors.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate
- Excellent written language skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to use all office equipment
- Knowledge of school district operations, policies, and procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to respect confidences
- Ability to present a professional image and to successfully represent the administrator in communications with the school board, general public, and district employees
- Ability to make effective and efficient independent judgments
- Ability to create documents
- Extensive organizational skills and initiative
- Ability to coordinate other workers’ activities
- Ability to handle pressure/stress and ambiguity
Physical/Emotional Requirements: The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day.
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Performs general secretarial duties for the Department Coordinator.
- Maintains a filing system.
- Places and receives telephone calls; orders and maintains supplies.
- Maintains accurate records regarding categorical reimbursement for certified and classified staff.
- Composes and processes routine outgoing correspondence.
- Other duties as assigned by Department Coordinator.
Terms of Employment:
10.5 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of classified employees. |
