Description

Job Description: This position is for the 2021-2022 school year only and the continuation will be dependent upon the availability of Head Start COVID-19 Relief funds. 

 

Reports to: Principal 

 

Purpose: Provides remedial math and reading instruction to students who need additional instruction and support. 

 

Qualifications

  • Meet requirements of a Kansas Teaching License - Early Childhood Unified preferred
  • Knowledge of the Kansas Early Learning Standards, intervention strategies, assessments and intervention resources 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel and parents 
  • ESOL endorsement preferred 
  • CLASS Certification preferred

Physical and Emotional Requirements: Speaking, hearing, visual, reading, writing, word processing, mobility, consistency of temperament, ability to problem solve and work in stress providing environments. 

 

Performance Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver targeted instruction in a small group, individual, and/or classroom setting
  • Deliver and use assessment results (including myIGDI, ASQ, COR Advantage) to diagnose areas of deficit and make instructional decisions that address students’ weaknesses 
  • Use research based strategies that meet students’ learning needs and support core instruction 
  • Coordinate planning and communicate students’ performance with teachers, educational coordinator, principal and Head Start compliance coordinator 
  • Use district-approved instructional resources, which includes both primary and supplemental resources 
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records for reporting student progress to teachers and parents 
  • Assist in the assigning and scheduling of students 

 

Terms of Employment: 9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education. This position is for the 2021-2022 school year only and the continuation will be dependent upon the availability of Head Start COVID-19 Relief funds.

 

Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel. 

 

Significant associations: The performance responsibilities are not limited to those outlined in this description and may include any other responsibilities as assigned by the administrator/supervisor.
