Reports to:  Principal

 

Purpose:  Provides remedial instruction to students who need additional instruction in reading.

 

Qualifications

  • Meet requirements of a Kansas Teaching License
  • Knowledge of the Common Core Standards, intervention strategies, assessments, and intervention resources
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel, and parents

Physical and Emotional Requirements:  Speaking, hearing, visual, reading, writing, word processing, mobility, consistency of temperament, ability to problem solve and work in stress providing environments.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Support core instruction, both remote and in person, for literacy learning 
  • Deliver and use assessment results to diagnose areas of deficiency and make instructional decisions that address students’ weaknesses
  • Use research-based strategies that meet students’ learning needs and support core instruction
  • Coordinate planning and communicate students’ performance with teachers, literacy coach, principal, and curriculum coordinator
  • Use district-approved instructional resources, which includes both primary and supplemental resources
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records for reporting student progress to teachers and parents
  • Assist in the assigning and scheduling of students

 

Terms of Employment:  9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.

 

Evaluation:  Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel.
