Reports To: Building Administrator
Position Purpose: To assist the secretary with the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy, hectic, productive, and smoothly-run environment; works extensively in receiving, welcoming, referring, and communicating with parents, students, community members, and school district personnel
Qualifications:
- Typing and word processing skills
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to operate office machines
- Bookkeeping and accounting skills in running school’s food service program
- Ability to work extensively with computer/word processor, excel, access, publisher
- Ability to handle pressure and stress
- Skill in working with the public in a positive manner
Physical/Emotional Requirements: (The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day.) Speaking, Hearing, Visual, Walking/Mobility, Consistency of temperament, Ability to work with a variety of people at the same time, Stamina for working in stress producing environments. Position may include stooping, kneeling and bending. Ability to sit/stand/move around at will.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Answer telephones/take messages (pleasant tone of voice, accuracy in messages and transfers, relate name of caller)
- Greet visitors – similar skills
- Manage daily attendance
-Telephone attendance line, messages – written or verbal, edit as is
necessary
-Produce attendance sheets for staff
- Manage tardies
- Produce breakfast and lunch count sheets
- Enter discipline referrals and suspensions on mainframe
- Type suspension forms
- Type work orders
- Maintain current file/notebook of work orders
- Produce update S160s – student class lists at least monthly – more often may be necessary. Produce in format described by office secretary
- Manage pony mail distribution and preparation for departure
- After school supervision of late pick-ups
- Copy as requested
- Assist secretary as requested
- Assist with enrollment as directed by secretary
- Assist with CUM folders as requested by secretary
- Enter new students/drops as requested by secretary
- Room reservation notebook
- Enter student updates on mainframe and email staff
- Maintain monthly staff copy counts
- Keep copy/printer paper supplied
- Other duties as requested by secretary, assistant principal, principal, coordinators
Terms of Employment:
Full-time – 6 to 8 hrs – wage and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of Support Service Personnel
