Title:             Associate Superintendent

Reports to:    Superintendent

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in education leadership is required.
  • Kansas District Leadership license is required.
  • Experience as a district level administrator is required.
  • 3 years of experience as a building principal is required.
  • Teaching experience required.
  • Effective written and oral communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Assistant, Associate or Superintendent experience is preferred.
  • High school principal experience is preferred.
  • Curriculum supervision and design experience is preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the secondary level preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as Chief Academic Officer.
  • Leads and implements innovative instructional services and systems at the secondary school-focused level.
  • Supervises administrative staff overseeing the alternative schools and the Juvenile Detention Center.
  • Serves as supervisor for TCALC.
  • Expands and coordinates postsecondary opportunities, internships with business partners, and secondary academic programs.
  • Supervises and evaluates Lead Principals and secondary school principals and student services administrator.
  • Coordinates strategic plan implementation and researches most current and effective instructional practices and assessment tools to evaluate progress on district priorities and ensure that effective programs and best practices are utilized in the curriculum.
  • Coordinates with the CIO and the Assistant Superintendent to ensure that professional development, curriculum materials, and resources are aligned and implemented with fidelity.
  • Coordinates and assists with the selection of school administrative personnel.
  • Collaborates with staff and the Equity Council to ensure high performance and academic growth occurs for all students.
  • Ensures that all staff involved in the educational process are accountable for their assigned responsibilities.
  • Presents instructional strategies, initiatives, and data at public meetings.
  • Coordinates with Director of Instructional Services to effectively communicate instructional information to the public through multiple venues.
  • Coordinates with the Secondary Lead Principals and the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to ensure curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices are aligned to state standards and are effectively implemented with increased student performance.
  • Participates in district policy development as a member of the Superintendent's Leadership Team.
  • Collaborates with instructional leadership for all departments (special education, ELL, early childhood, etc.).
  • Assists with management of volunteer programs and partnerships.
  • Assists with planning and implementation of partnerships with governmental agencies, local business, civic organizations, and community entities to promote the district's initiatives.
  • Assists with oversight and supervision of staff addressing the preparation of reports, records, and documentation related to accreditation and school improvement initiatives.
  • Supports the vision of the Superintendent and works towards effective implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  12 months; Salary and work year to be determined by Board of Education.
