Reports To: Building Principal Position Purpose: Provide elementary school students with instructional support in reading, working with students individually and in groups using intervention strategies.
Qualifications:
• Requires 48 college credit hours or pass the state – mandated Paraprofessional test
• Skills in the use of computers
• Good interpersonal skills including the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to successfully accomplish/complete the annual professional development training
• Conscientiously accept and follow directions
• Adaptable to a variety of situations
Physical/Emotional Requirements: The incumbent may be required to use the following requirements during any part of the working day: Speaking, hearing, visual, reading, writing, word processing, mobility, consistency of temperament, ability to work with a variety of problems at the same time, stamina for working long hours and in stress producing environments.
Responsibilities may include:
• Assist teachers with daily instruction
• Assist students in achieving their individual objectives
• Work with small groups of students to learn or reinforce materials as directed by the teacher
• Perform clerical duties and record keeping as assigned by the teacher.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher
• Access communication and instructional resources and support student use of computers
• Participate in professional development training programs
• Communicates effectively with supervising teacher about classroom and student issues, and communicates with students in a manner that supports learning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Support students with developing social and behavioral skills
Terms of Employment: 9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of Classified Personnel.
