Reports To: Director of Communications
Position Purpose: To assist the Director of Communications in making known appropriate district information both internally and externally. This position will be responsible for the planning and implementation of a variety of special projects/events, assisting with the district's social media presence and producing digital content with a strong focus on video.
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a BA in communications or related field
- Skills in public relations and technical comunications such as writing, photography, word processing, computer technology, design and electronic media. Previous experience a plus.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of social media platforms
- Strong video skills, including shooting video as well as editing
- Eye for detail
- Strong writing abilities
- Adobe Creative Suite CC
Performance Responsibilities:
Communication Skills
* Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally to targeted audiences
* Excellent grammar and proofreading skills
* Understanding of AP style
* Strong writing skills
Special Events/Projects:
* Plan events from start to finish, including annual staff awards, longevity awards, and student awards
* Establish timelines and ensure all aspects of events are met
* Maintain databases and documentation for all events from year to year
Online and Broadcast Marketing:
* Assist with monitoring various social media venues for troubleshooting and awareness
* Develop video and written news stories for placement on social media networks, district cable channel, and other comunication outlets
* Attend district and community events to support coverage of key stories
* Use measurement tools, including Google Analytics, to evaluate existing work; recommend strategies to grow engagement on district platforms
* Video skills, including taping, editing and storytelling
Physical/Emotional Requirements: (The incumbent may be required to use the following skills and abilities during any part of the working day.) The incumbent must communicate effectively through writing, speaking, and varied electronics mediums; be a positive influence in developing, maintaining and encouraging a quality working climate. The incumbent should have quality eye/hand coordination, be mobile and able to drive. Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations.
Terms of Employment:
12 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
Some evenings and weekends required.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Support Services personnel.
