Reports To:       Maintenance Supervisor                  

 

Position Purpose:  To keep the district’s facilities maintained and operational so they present no problems or interruptions to the education program.          

 

Qualifications:                 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • EPA refrigerant certification required or must be able to obtain within 90 days
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, at own expense, within 90 days, a valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Good physical condition is required, with the ability to lift and carry 100 pounds and to work from a ladder

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work from verbal and written instructions and ability to design or modify components to meet job requirement.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, tools and terminology.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, hazardous materials, and proper ways to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively without constant supervision.
  • Ability to perform work independently according to prescribed standards and procedures with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Dependability and the ability to get along with others.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, hazardous materials, and proper ways necessary to perform the assigned tasks. 

 Physical/Emotional Requirements:  (The incumbent may be required to use the following skills and abilities during any part of the working day.)

 

This position is classified as heavy work (Level 4), which entails the following:  exerting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly.

 

Performance Responsibilities: 

  • Install, repair, service, and maintain various types of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration systems and related equipment in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures
  • Assist other maintenance areas with work requests as assigned
  • Request supplies required for the completion of work assignments

 

Terms of Employment:

12 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.

 

Evaluation:

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Classified Personnel.
