QUALIFICATIONS:
- Business / Accounting degree preferred or a minimum of three (3) years related experience
- Experience in areas of payroll, bookkeeping, and accounting
- Experience with mainframe computer systems
- Experience with creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets
- Efficient in data entry
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels
- Desire to contribute in building a positive team spirit
RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage and process semi-monthly and biweekly payrolls for district employees. Scheduled entry of payroll data into district software system; required to accurately update employee payroll information as changes occur (i.e., new hires, leaves, separations). Coordinate communication with the Human Resources Department for benefit adjustments when employee is on leave; adjust leave balances for payroll processing and maintain annual and monthly leave for eligible employees. This position is the primary contact person for several voluntary benefit providers and reconciles benefit invoices to employee witholding amounts on a monthly basis. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is necessary; position regularly processes a large volume of data by working cooperatively with others on the Payroll Team. Must be able to confidently answer routine questions and correspondence from district staff concerning payroll related issues. Position requires strict adherence to district business practices protecting privacy of personnel records and inquiries. Compliance with district, state and federal payroll regulations, rules, and statutes is critical. Payroll duties at certain times of the year may require Payroll Team members to work beyond a standard 40-hour week (i.e., year end payroll processing, open benefits enrollment period). |
