Description | Reports To: General Director of Central Services and Facilities Planning
Position Purpose: To aid in the efficient operation of printing services so that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience and training in commercial printing operations, to include all facets of digital printing, digital printing equipment operation, binding, padding, stapling, cutting, folding, trimming, layout, paste-up, etc. (with such alternatives to the above qualifications as determined to be appropriate and acceptable).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Documented knowledge of standard practices, equipment, and terminology in all phases of printing operations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with software programs, to include the Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite, and other related programs.
- Ability to perform work independently, according to prescribed standards and procedures, with minimum supervision.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Dependability and the ability to get along with others.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, hazardous materials, and proper ways necessary to perform the assigned tasks.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Report to the General Director for Central Services & Facilities Planning and the Printer II position to receive each day’s assignments.
- Perform general office work and administrative duties, including answering phone, filing, processing print requisitions, distributing orders, etc.
- Review print requests and perform printing activities as assigned or by following an established work schedule.
- Provide consultation and assistance to clients during project development, including choosing appropriate paper types, paper weights, sizes, etc. and preparing job cost estimates as necessary.
- Assist Printer II in logging jobs, scheduling work for each printing machine, expediting work flow, and distributing completed print materials to customers in a timely manner.
- Assist Printer II in setting up, monitoring, and adjusting the printing process on a computer panel or computer monitor.
- Typeset heading and titles to vary the printing size and style.
- Transfer files, blend colors, layout and paste-up original copy, proof images electronically, and arrange pages so that materials can be printed.
- Assist Printer II in monitoring printing and bindery processes to assure completion of work according to production schedule.
- Operate duplication machines, paper cutting machines, folding machines, stapling machines, collating machines, bindery equipment, padding racks, etc.
- Inspect and verify completed projects to ensure that they meet quality standards related to quantities to be printed, paper specifications, colors, and special printing instructions.
- Respond to work requests in a timely and courteous manner.
- Perform daily tasks in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures.
- Assist with a variety of work assignments, including all facets of digital printing, digital printing equipment operation, binding, padding, stapling, cutting, folding, trimming, layout, paste-up, etc.
- Follow the District’s system for the receipt and issuance of parts and supplies, as well as maintaining recordkeeping and inventories.
- Attend appropriate training sessions, meetings, and classes as part of professional development.
- Accomplish assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate, care for, and troubleshoot equipment used in daily work assignments.
- Demonstrate professional image through appearance, language, and work ethic.
- Require good attendance record for continuity of operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Emotional Requirements:
The incumbent may be required to use the following skills and abilities during any part of the working day:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Term of Employment: Twelve (12) months
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Classified Personnel.
